about

The third instalment from The Heathen Kings sees them realising their musicianship in this new format. Layers upon layers of glorious vocals and instrumentation, the trio have allowed themselves to branch out creatively in this recording.

Drawing up their collective inspirations, the trio deliver a powerful punch of folk story-telling in honour of their heroes.

This musical wanderlust takes in traditional pieces with original arrangements drawing on a variety of styles; the genius of Archie Fisher’s Witch of the Westmoreland leading all the way through to the inglorious, mythological journey of one woman to singlehandedly break her beloved Mad Tom out of Bedlam. It’s break-neck, breathless and passionate.
